Drone Video of Rainbow Mountain

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : A recent drone video uploaded to AirVuz.com shows off Peru’s Rainbow Mountain. In the heart of the Peruvian Andes is a mountain unlike any other. The Vinicunca mountain used to be covered entirely by snow, until only about 6 years ago. The snow melted away to reveal a natural work of art. A rainbow of vibrant colors.

Drone pilot and content creator Dann recently traveled to the Cusco region to capture the majestic mountain from above. The aerial footage shows the layers in shades of red, orange, yellow, green and turquoise. The array of colors formed when the ice melted and the water mixed with the earth's minerals.

Also called the mountain of seven colors, the red stripes are due to rust mixtures. The orange and yellow suggest iron sulphide. The green is because of the compound of phyllites. The turquoise comes from chlorite. And the white from quartzose and sandstone that is rich in calcium carbonate.

Since it was discovered, rainbow mountain is now a top tourist destination. The hike up the mountain is fairly challenging, though, and not recommended for beginners.
