The town is called Essaouira, and it's located about halfway down the country's Atlantic Ocean coastline. It's part of the Marrakesh-Safi, region, whose capital city is Marrakesh. Home to one of the country's finest natural harbors, Essaouira was the site of one of Portugal's first colonies in Africa. In modern times, the city was used as a filming location for the 1952 film "Othello" starring and directed by Orson Welles.
