Fields of gold - 4 Seasons of Latvia: Summer - Ep. 6

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Jurgis Kreilis / FilmDay continues his aerial series on the seasons of Latvia with this beautiful summer piece shot over some of the country's agricultural areas. One of the distinctive features of the landscape in here is the interspersal of forested areas amongst the farms. During the Soviet period, about a third of the country's cultivated land was abandoned and reverted to forest. The resulting landscape is particularly striking in the summer months, when the colors of the fields contrast with the still-green trees.
