Fortaleza Ozama

The Dominican Republic's Fortaleza Ozama was one of the first fortresses built by the Spanish conquistadoras.  It was constructed in 1502 (just a decade after the first Columbus Voyage) to protect the city of Santo Domingo on the south shore of the island, which was the first permanently settled colonial outpost in the New World.  Contributor Moises_Arias used a drone to create this spectacular bird's eye view of the fortress overlooking the Caribbean, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
