AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Île de Ré is a prominent island off the middle of France's west coast, near the port of La Rochelle. The body of water here is called the Bay of Biscay, which opens up onto the north Atlantic Ocean. The island was actually an archipelago of three islands as recently as Roman times; due to a combination of silting and some land engineering the three are now fused as a single island.
