Jackson Square to the River Peaceful Protest
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Top contributor Bumble Bee Productions brings us this outstanding drone video of a peaceful protest in New Orleans, Louisiana in early June of 2000. The protest was one of hundreds around the world prompted by outrage caused by the death of a Black man named George Floyd at the hands of four police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Memorial Day. Despite concerns that this particular protest could turn violent and possibly result in the destruction of the Andrew Jackson statue in Jackson Square, it was entirely peaceful.

The rumor mill was in full swing that Friday morning in New Orleans on how the protestors were expected to turn violent and they were scheduled tear down the Andrew Jackson Statue. So I decided I would drone the Jackson Square one last time if this were to happen early that day. Still sick to my stomach over all this I decided that I wanted to drone the protest. I found myself back in the French Quarter and managed to find a launching spot near Jackson Square and could hear the rally and applaud. I droned around the area and noted not one cop anywhere but also sensed the peace and civil assembly. I loaded up and went closer and closer to the protestors just to experience for myself what really was going on. I ran into a fellow droner and we spoke for a few minutes. He was part of the protest but impressed me so and hope to meet with him again to understand it all. I found myself at the moon walk and in the midst of these protestors was at ease but guarded as I droned the area. I noticed several drones in the air as well so I had to be extra cautious. I heard the last of the rally speech but is a blur to me today but only because a single voice was heard as the cry for silence was echoed throughout followed by an amazing and somber song. Quietly this mass crowd found their way to the river and they all congregated and from time to time would hear a loud cheer from this crowd of mixed company that came together to protest hate. Surely there were other reasons for this peaceful gathering but I would stand behind protesting hate and violence. No looting, no rioting and no one hurt from what I have experienced there that evening on June 5th, 2020 at the Jackson Square to the River peaceful protest....
