Kongsberg by drone, Norway

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Norway was once one of the world's most important sources of silver, which was the primary monetary metal for much of European history. The epicenter of the country's mining heritage is around the city of Kongsberg, which is about an hour's drive southwest of Oslo. Seen here in this drone video by new AirVuz contributor ToB Creations, the city is situated on the Numedalslågen River. While the country has long since moved on to a paper monetary system, the city continues to be the home of the Royal Norwegian Mint.

We start slightly south of Kongsberg and follow the river Numedalslågen up to the town itself. We fly around and see some historic buildings and more. This is my hometown, centrally located in South-Eastern Norway. The town was founded in 1624 after the discovery of silver. Many German miners came. They had the expertise, but many also fled from the thirty-year war that ravaged Europe. Many names in the area testify to strong German influence. Today, Kongsberg is a city with many high-tech companies in defense, aviation, oil and gas.
