Considered an inlet of the Adriatic Sea, Kotor Bay is home to some of the best-preserved medieval towns in Southeastern Europe. The bay consists of a number of sub-bays connected together by narrow inlets, and backdropped by mountains. It's become one of the top tourist destinations in Montenegro, which was part of Serbia before becoming independent in 2006 following a plebiscite.
