La Ciudad Perdida, Colombia - The Lost City Ancient Ruins
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Drone Video of the Week Winner el gringo rojo brings us this marvelous dronie shot from a well-known archaeological site in Colombia known as the Lost City (Ciudad Perdida). Discovered only in 1972, it's located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, an isolated mountain range (not connected to the Andes) in the northern part of the country. The site consists of a series of mountain terraces, roads, and circular plazas. It's believed to have been constructed around 800 AD, centuries before the more famous Machu Picchu site in Peru.

Deep in the Colombian jungle, an ancient city build earlier than Machu Picchu can be found. That is if you are willing to hike four days. The hike is long and tiring but 100% worth it. Working with a tour agency gave me the opportunity to climb the final 1,000 stairs at first light. As we climbed, we passed the clouds. Eventually, the entire city was engulfed in the clouds. Making for a sureal setting.
