Lai da Rims - Piz Umbrail (Graubünden, Switzerland)

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Check out this stunning drone video of a Swiss alpine lake from contributor Kpax. The lake is called Lai da Rims and it lies in the municipality of Val Müstair in Grissons, the southeasternmost of the Swiss Cantons. The lake lies near the base of Piz Umbrail, which has a peak elevation of just over 3k meters (just under 10k ft.). The lake sits at an altitude of about 2.4k meters (just under 8k ft.) and covers a bit over 40 acres. The mountain is part of the Ortler Alps near the Italian border.

Situated amid pristine nature in the Val Mora, the Lai da Rims is regarded as one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of the Alps. It is a popular destination for nature-loving walkers. This walk leads from the Umbrail Pass at 2500m to the Piz Umbrail at 3033m, and then down to the Lai da Rims, a unique jewel, and concludes with a valley walk to Sta. Maria. The lake is very impressive because of its turquoise colors and the clear water. If no wind blows and the water does not curl, the clouds reflect in the lake and it looks as if there are two skies. Fascinating!
