Lake District... (not UK)
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out this excellent drone video of a lake district in Northern Germany, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot seb-depp. The area is located just to the northwest of the town of Northeim in Lower Saxony, the state which covers much of northwestern Germany. The lakes are actually gravel pits; gravel was mined in the area between roughly the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. At around the :52 mark in the video, you'll see the confluence of the Rivers Rhume and Leine, just to the west of the lakes.

The lake district of Northeim, Germany, is situated near the river Leine which is joined right next to the lakes by the river Rhume. The lakes originate from gravel mining, starting 1852 and intensified in the 1950s. Now the mining has stopped and the lakes are left to be reclaimed by nature. Part of it is a nature reserve (seen in the distance at .52 - at that mark you can see the Rhume joining the Leine). You're not allowed to fly over nature reserves in Germany.
