Les Beaux-de-Provence

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Enjoy this aerial tour of a historic hilltop town in Southern France, compliments of AirVuz contributor BDurren67.  Les Baux-de-Provence, often referred to as simply Baux, sits atop rockoutcrop in the Alpilles, a chain of the French Prealps. The area has been inhabited for thousands of years, and during the Middle Ages the town occupied an important strategic position.  Much later, the town gave birth to the name bauxite following the nearby discovery of the aluminum-rich mineral in 1821 which were only recently exhausted.
