With a population of roughly 30k, the town sits astride the Elbe River northwest of Dresden in the state of Saxony. The town is famous for its namesake porcelain, a product of two types of clays which can be found in the ground here. The video features footage of the Meissen Cathedral and the adjacent Albrechtsburg atop Castle Hill; the latter is considered the first residential castle in the German-speaking world.

The city of Meissen is internationally famous for the production of Meissen porcelain, the first European porcelain has been manufactured since 1708. The Meissen Cathedral and the Albrechtsburg on the castle hill on the left Elbe shape the silhouette of Meissen. According to legendary traditions, cultivated viticulture is said to have been carried out by Bishop Benno von Meißen (1066 to 1106) go back.
