Melbourne Star Observation Wheel Tribute 4K

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Take an aerial tour of Australia's giant Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Gizmo Drones. The ferris wheel stands just under 400 ft. (120 m) over the Docklands neighborhood of Australia's second-largest city. The wheel opened in 2008, but closed after just a few weeks due to structural defects and didn't open again for five years. The attraction became a casualty of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic when its permanent closure was announced in early September, 2021.

This video is a tribute to Melbourne Star Observation Wheel which sadly shutdown a week ago. They said it has closed permanently after losses caused by travel restrictions. Although I have filmed glimpses of the wheel before I felt I should capture it's glory as it has been a wonderful icon in Melbourne's skyline over the last 15 years. Every night the wheel would be lit up in colour which could be seen from many parts of Melbourne and it is now dark and lifeless. I hope the management and staff will be OK and I hope someone will buy the wheel and restore its iconic place in Melbourne.
