Olympic ski jump & Hotel Igman Sarajevo

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Adanz75 used a drone to film a sad reminder of the violence that engulfed Yugoslavia just a few years after Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Olympic Winter Games. Less than a decade later, Yugoslavia had dissolved and much of the region had plunged into a bloody civil war whose epicenter was in what is now Bosnia Herzegovina. While Bosnia and indeed all of its former compatriots have since recovered, the remains of the Olympic site are a sad reminder of this late 20th century tragedy.

A destroyed hotel Igman. Wartime destruction and negligence have turned most of Sarajevo's 1984 Winter Olympic venues into painful reminders of the city's golden times. The five jumps at the Igman Mountain at Sarajevo were built for the Olympic Winter Games 1984. During the wars three of them were destroyed (K40, K25 and K10) and only two biggest survived. Before 1992 it was planned to organize there Europa Cup competition but finally it wasn't organized. After the wars in the 1990's the ski jumping hills can no longer be kept up and are a bit destroyed now. Ski jumpers haven’t passed the hills for quiet a long time because of the civil war.
