Peniche is located on a peninsula in the Leiria District, the souhernmost of the districts of the Centro region. Like much of the Silver Coast defined loosely as the middle part of Portugal's Atlantic Ocean coasline, Peniche is home to some of Europe's best surfing due to the wave break patterns here. The video concludes with some outstanding shots of the lighthouse of Cabo Carvoeiro.

Peniche PortugalPeniche is a fishing and working city that has become a tourist destination due to the impressive beaches that the region has.

The population of Peniche is a reflection of the fishing industry, with a real and disparate appearance that has barely altered with the increase in tourism. However, beyond its soulless appearance, there is much to enjoy in Peniche with its fantastic fish and seafood restaurants, interesting historical sites, and of course, fantastic surf.

One of the attractions of the region are the Berlengas Islands, the oldest natural reserve in Portugal and the place where the spectacular fortress of Saint John the Baptist stands. The islands can be explored as an excursion from Peniche, the tour boats leave from the port.
