Lying on the east side of San Francisco Bay just west of downtown Oakland, Oakland's seaport long ago overtook the port of San Francisco. The primary seaport for Northern California, Oakland is the fourth busiest seaport on the USA's West Coast, after Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Seattle-Tacoma (since 2015 a single facility). It's one of the ten busiest container ports in the country.
