Rock of Cashel - Ireland
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor seb-depp brings us this excellent video of the Rock of Cashel, one of the most important cultural sites in Ireland. Located in County Tipperary in southeast Ireland, it's the site of what was perhaps the seminal event of Irish history: the conversion by Saint Patrick of the King of Munster to Christianity in the 5th century AD. The building ruins remaining on the ancient site include a tower, a chapel and a cathedral, all of which dates to the 12th-13th centuries AD.

Third part of the in-Depp-series of Ireland: A stop at Rock of Cashel and Hore Abbey. The Rock is a rocky knoll of about 65 m (213 ft) in the County Tipperary in Ireland. As early as the 4th century it was used as a defensive place and became at bishop's place in the 5th century. The oldest building standing today is the round tower from around 1100. Cormac's Chapel (the intricately carved little chapel from warm sandstone standing outside the cathedral near the crossing) was built from 1127 to 1134 and is only accessible as part of a tour. The cathedral was built between 1235 and 1270. The place is swarming with tourists...
A few hundred meters from the foot of rock lies Hore Abbey was founded 1272 by the bishop of Cashel for Cistertian monks. The tower was added to the 13th century church in the 15th century.
