The village is located on the Castellammare del Golfo, an inlet of the Tyrrhenian Sea (itself a giant inlet of the Mediterranean Sea) on Sicily's northern coast in the province of Trapani. Inhabited since the Antiquity, Scopello has become a popular destination from Palermo, the largest city of Sicily, which lies just to the east.
