One morning after a big windstorm, I saw a wrecked sailboat in the cove in front of my house. After the wind died down, I launched my Phantom 4 to go investigate. At first, I saw a small amount of oil, but by the following day, there was a trail of oil nearly a mile long. I changed my focus from capturing the boat's beauty to documenting the extent of the oil leak. One video showed the boat from a bird’s eye view, and panned upward following the trail of the oil across the bay. These new pictures and videos were sent to the US Coast Guard. That night after seeing my footage, bright lights were shone at the wreck and divers were sent to pump out the fuel and oil. A few days later, I woke up early enough to capture a beautiful sunrise.
While I didn’t include the oily footage in this video, I wanted to make sure I didn’t leave out the story. It was really cool to use my videos and pictures to do something meaningful. I really hope you enjoy the video!
