The Chüeboden glacier (Chüebodengletscher) is located on the Gerenpass (2671m), a pass between Val Bedretto (Ticino, Switzerland) and Obergoms (Wallis, Switzerland). Chüebodenhorn is 3,070 meter high in the Lepontine Alps. The glacier lost most of its snowcover. Is currently 500 meters long and has an elevation range of 75 meters. The lake which fringes the glacier turn into a circular alpine lake as the glacier melts away. Big icebergs originate from above and below ground ice breaks at the edge of the glacier. This process is also called 'calving'.
