Tre Cime

Contributor Travel and Drones brings us this fantastic drone video of the multi-peak mountain in northern Italy known variously as the Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime di Lavaredo) and the Three Merlins (Drei Zinnen). The middle and tallest peak, known as Cima Grande or Große Zinne in Italian and German, respectively, has an elevation of 3k meters above sea level (about 9.8k ft.) Part of the Dolomite Mountains, the peaks straddle the provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno in the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto regions, respectively.

A trip to the Italian Dolomites wouldn’t be complete without seeing the three prominent monoliths of Tre Cime di Lavaredo from different angles. Located in the Sesto Dolomites, in the high Puster Valley of South Tyrol, the three uniquely-shaped sheer pinnacles, which stand right next to each other, are: Cima Piccola, or little peak, 2857m Cima Grande, or big peak, 2999m Cima Ovest, or western peak, 2973m
