Wernigerode Castle
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Talented AirVuz contributor and pilot seb-depp brings us this excellent drone video of Germany's Wernigerode Castle. Located in the Harz Mountains in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, the original castle on the site dates to the 12th century. It was reconstructed in the Baroque style in the early 18th century, and again in its current Neo-Romantic style in the late 19th century. It sometimes draws comparisons to Neuschwanstein, the famous castle built by Bavarian King Ludwig II in the Bavarian Alps.

The castle of Wernigerode in the north east of the Harz mountains, Germany, has its origins around 1120. The chapel in the Gothic style dates from the 14th century. In the early 17th century the castle was abandoned but from 1671 converted to a baroque residence without military use. Starting 1858 the castle was rebuilt as a place befitting the vice Kanzler of the German Empire. Left as a residence in 1929 it became a museum in 1946.
