A WINTER MORNING AT MORITZBURG CASTLE & PARK ✵ [4K]

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Michael Haubold brings us this stunning wintertime drone video of Moritzburg Castle, one of the cultural treasures of the northern German state of Saxony.  The Baroque style masterpiece is located on an artificial lake island about a half hour drive north of Dresden, the state's capital city.  Originally built in the middle 16th century as a hunting lodge for the then-Duke of Saxony, both the castle and the surrounding grounds were heavily modified in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Moritzburg Castle is near Dresden. The hunting lodge dating back to a 16th century hunting lodge received its current form in the 18th century under Augustus the Strong. The castle, whose main axis runs from south to north, rises on an artificial island in the castle pond. The baroque four-winged building with its four towers connected directly to the main building rests on a pedestal-like base. Eight former sentry boxes are grouped around the castle on the island. The harmonious landscape integration of the castle is completed by the north adjoining garden area, which lies about two kilometers to the east and is connected by a direct line of sight Pheasant castle with a small harbor and the Venus fountain, the Dardanelles and a Hellhaus in the center of the crossroads in northern Friedewald.
