Vranica is a massif which is part of the Dinaric Alps, a chain which runs down much of the western side of the Balkan Peninsula. Located near the geographic center of the country, the mountain has a peak elevation of just over 6.9k ft. above sea level (around 2.1k m). It's located a short distance west of the capital city of Sarajevo and a somewhat longer distance north of the historic city of Mostar.
