AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor and pilot Vadim_Danilov brings us this excellent drone video of the Curonian Spit is a long, narrow sand bar that separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon. The video was filmed in the southern portion of the spit in Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast, an exclave which is surrounded by Polish and Lithuanian territory. The northern part of the spit is in Lithuania. Formed about 5,000 years ago, the spit runs for about 60 mi. (around 100 km) on a southwest-to-northeast axis.

The height of the Efa | Curonian spit of the dune | Kaliningrad region. One of the most popular attractions of the Baltic is the Efa Dune. It stretches along the Curonian Lagoon for 4.5 kilometers and stretches all the way to the border with Lithuania. In comparison with other similar sand mountains, this one is the largest in Europe. Many tourists from all over Russia, Lithuania and various countries come to see the unusual sand mountains. Walnut Dune is often called Efa height because of the highest point, which reaches 64 meters. Until the XVIII century, the Efa dune was surrounded by numerous trees whose roots held back the sand, but for unknown reasons they were cut down. Having no more obstacles, the wandering sands, under the influence of the wind, began to move around the territory in free movement, which led to the destruction of 14 nearby settlements.
