Myanmar's Shan state occupies its eastern region, which sits just above northern Thailand.  The region is named for the Shan people, a distinct ethnic group which also has some populations in other states of Myanmar and the neighboring countries.  The territory came under British control later than the rest of what was then called Burma, and the area's remoteness has made it hard for the Myanmar government to control it.  In this drone video by Minzarni Tgi, you'll see the southern part of this beautiful state.
