Annual Reels: Best of 2020

Prepare to be amazed by this very impressive pro drone reel from top contributor smakozawr.  The video features a great mix of urban, landscape, and action shots, mostly from his native Ukraine.  Ride along for some great views from the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev and its Black Sea port city of Odessa, as well as some shots from the country's expansive farmlands.  Action shots include some amazing sequences involving drift cars, a small fleet of personal watercraft racing down the Dneiper River, Ukrainian army vehicles, and more.  

Top contributor and Drone Video of the Week Finalist Nathan Jermy brings us this fantastic drone reel from his travels over the course of 2020.  Some of the recognizable locations include the 19th century St. Catherine's Fortress on the coastline of southern Wales and the dams of the Elan Valley to its north, the Troodos Mountains and the Port of Limassol on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, the Ribblehead Viaduct in England's Yorkshire region, the Acropolis and Olympic Stadium in Athens (Greece), and more.

Award-winning contributor and pilot Bachir_Photo_Phactory brings us this DVOW winning reel from Dubai, the most well-known of the seven emirates that make up the Middle Eastern nation of the United Arab Emirates.  The video opens with some great footage of some of the natural landscapes which surround Dubai's namesake capital, including the Ras Al Khor wildlife sanctuary.  Heading into the great city itself, you'll be treated to aerial views of sights as varied as a helicopter landing, an amusement park, pleasure boat traffic, and more.  

Panvelet is one of the top contributors in the AirVuz community; his video of Shanghai called "24 Hours" won the "Originality" category at the second annual Drone Video Awards, and he's since been picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist multiple times.  All good reasons to check out the stunning drone reel uploaded by this very talented creator.  Expertly edited, the video features a mix of shots from various countries around the world, ranging from the skyscrapers of Hong Kong, and Los Angeles to a partially-submerged submarine.  

Check out this magnificent professional drone reel from new AirVuz contributor razmedia.  This DVOW nominated film opens with an epic shot of the Chicago skyline, followed by some incredible footage of the famous Transfăgărășan road through a pass in Romania's Carpathian Mountains.  Then it's on to some excellent drift car footage, which is intermixed with more shots from Chicago's lakefront skyscrapers.  Other highlights include the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse, a shot of some Jeeps overlooking a canyon, some great golf course shots, and more.  

Prepare to be amazed by this DVOW nominated demo reel by top AirVuz contributor and plot Hofcut.  The reel opens with a fantastic shot of a hot air balloon, followed by a mountain valley, a flying helicopter, and some gorgeous snow-capped mountains. Other highlights include a drift-car event, a tractor planting a field, a Club Med diving boat, the mountains of Western Canada, a camel caravan in the Sahara Desert, and numerous "people" shots; it concludes with a great shot of the skyline of Montreal, Canada. 

Check out this fantastic DVOW nominated showreel from top contributor Active Perspective.  Based out of the Netherlands, this talented content creator does a wide range of complex work for demanding clients around the world, and their reel features a very well-edited mix of aerial and ground camera footage.  It features a fast-moving mix of action sequences, "people" scenes, landscape/urban shots, and even some wildlife sequences.  With scenes ranging from alpine skiing to top-down automotive shots to music concerts, it's well worth a watch.

AirVuz contributor inigui is one of the top content creators on AirVuz, with multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist spots to his name.  Not surprisingly, his latest compilation reel is a cinematic experience to behold.  The video features footage from around the world; in just the first half-minute, you'll be treated to some epic footage of a flock of flamingoes on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, the idyllic beaches of Palawan in the Philippines, the skyscrapers of Mexico City, and an epic shot of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.  

Check out this fantastic drone demo reel from Canada, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot TannerNG.  The video features a well-edited mix of landscape, urban, and dynamic sequences from across this massive country.  Some of the locations featured include Winnipeg (the capital of the Prairie province of Manitoba), as well as the mountains and lakes around Whitehorse and Carcross in the northern Yukon Territory.  "Action" type shots include footage of kayakers as well as some great sequences of harvest tractors.  

Prepare to be blown away by this action reel by Skynamic, a company founded by several top German drone pilots and camera operators.  The video is full of cinema-quality drone footage, all of which has been paired with some equally impressive production.  The video's focus is technically complex action shots, such as battle scenes (including some incredible footage of racing tanks), car races, exploding vehicles, and more; there's even a shot of what appears to be a DHL delivery drone. This video won the Showreel category at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand New AirVuz contributor teamdirtydrone (aka Sarah Phillips) brings us this fantastic DVOW nominated international travel aerial reel.  The fast-paced compilation features footage from around the world.  Highlights include California's Lake Tahoe; the rivers of Bangladesh; downtown Detroit, Michigan; the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles, California; hill towns and mountains in Italy; the Angell of Independence statue in central Mexico City; and other beautiful footage from an unknown canyon, a desert, and more.

Explore the diversity of the United Kingdom with this fantastic drone reel by top AirVuz contributor Joshua Paul Gardner.  The video opens with a great shot of the Durdle Door rock formation on the Jurassic Coast of County Dorset, followed by some incredible views of the peaks of the Lakes District in Cumbria.  At about the :30 mark, you'll see the tidal island of St. Michael's Mount on the coast of Cornwall.  Other highlights include the Fifth of November fireworks in Norfolk, the hills of Surrey, a giant offshore wind farm, and more.

This video was a DVOY finalist in 2021. 

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor opia media lab brings us this phenomenal demo reel from Mexico.  The reel features footage from across the giant country.  Some of the featured locations include Puebla, the second-largest city of colonial Mexico; the great port city of Veracruz; the town of Tepoztlán, south of Mexico City; and the great stratovolcano called Popocatepetl, which is the country's second-highest mountain and has a peak elevation of about 5.4k meters above sea level or around 17.8k ft.  

Check out this outstanding showreel by AirVūz contributor MadameDrone. This reel has a variety of footage including beautiful landscape views such as the Cantabrian Mountains of northwestern Spain, two-wheel and car chasing, wildlife in their natural habitat, and landmarks such as the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal.  This Spanish based aerial cinematography and photography company uses a DJI Inspire for their aerial footage. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in December 2020. 

Check out this magnificent drone video collage of Greece, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Aerial_Greece.  The video features footage from dozens of locations across the great Southern European country. Using his DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and Osmo Pocket this pilot was able to capture the bright blue waters of the Aegean Sea, the snowy mountains of Northern Greece, and world-famous landmarks such as the Parthenon complex atop the Acropolis in Athens. This video was selected as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in November, 2020.

Brand-new AirVuz contributor and pilot GTDRONE brings us this DVOW winning demo reel from Poland.  The reel features a great mix of landscape and action shots from across this giant Central European country.  It contains footage from the length and breadth of Poland, ranging from the sand spits of the country's northern coast on the Baltic Sea, to the plains which cover much of northern interior Poland, to the snow-covered peaks of the Carpathian Mountains in the southern part of the country.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Jackanda brings us this brilliant reel covering some of his highlights over a year of aerial videography across Italy.  Some of the highlights include the jagged peaks of the Dolomite Mountains, the magnificent city of Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region, the fabled rolling hills and manors of the region of Tuscany, the alpine lake Pragser Wildsee in the northern province of South Tyrol, as well as some amazing action shots involving cars circling a course and hitting a high mountain pass.  

Check out this excellent 2020 drone reel from CANDRONE AIR 4K.  Most of the video was shot over the region of Catalonia in northeastern Spain, which extends from the Mediterranean Sea into the Pyrenees Mountains.  Featured locations include the hilltop Balsareny Castle, north of Barcelona; the Llobregat River, Catalonia's second-longest waterway; the Vallnord – Pal Arinsal ski resort in neighboring Andorra; the municipality of Viladecavalls in the province of Barcelona; the municipality of Salomó in the province of Terragona; and more.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist CG Films brings us this fantastic 2020 drone reel of footage from across the southern part of Italy.  The video features the following locations, in order of first appearance: the Dolomiti lucane mountain range near the southern end of the Apennines; the "ghost town" of Craco in the province of Matera; Castelmezzano in the province of Potenza; the ancient city of Matera; Maratea, a seaside city in Potenza; Sila National Park in Calabria; the Cilento coast in Campania, and more.  

In this 2020 highlight reel by AirVuz contributor feki.m90, you'll be treated to some excellent drone footage from the Southeast European country of Macedonia.  At the :06 mark, you'll fly over the statue of Alexander the Great in the capital city of Skopje.  At around the :20 mark, you'll see Kopzjak lake, a giant reservoir in the western part of the country.   Other featured locations include the Šar Mountains, wintertime on the Popova Šapka (home of one the country's most well-known ski resorts), Mavrovo National Park, and more. 

New AirVuz contributor Maxim Termote brings us this fantastic drone demo showreel.  The reel opens with some beautiful footage from the city of Brussels in his home country of Belgium; at the :06 mark, there's a great shot looking toward the Place Royale and beyond it the gold-domed Palais de Justice.  Then you'll head to the giant port of Antwerp, the EU''s second-busiest seaport. The video also features some excellent footage of some of the country's wind turbines, as well as some "action" shots involving factories, cars, and bikes.  

By most measures, Hong Kong is the world's most "vertical" city, and its towering skyscrapers are immensely appealing to aerial videographers.  If you want to see why, check out this fantastic 2020 drone reel by AirVuz contributor andyyeung.  The video features outstanding timelapse sequences from this semi-autonomous Chinese city on the Pearl River Delta; in addition to some spectacular hyperlapse shots of some of the city's hundreds of skyscrapers, sweeping views of Victoria Harbor and even some very impressive FPV footage.  

This excellent first person view (FPV) 2020 highlight reel by top AirVuz contributor and pilot Send It Productions openes with some incredible mountain surfing footage from somewhere in the Alps Mountains.  Following some epic ridge-skimming and an amazing fly-through shot at the 1:48 mark, you'll chase a motorcycle on a road in southern France, follow drift cars, fly after a smoke-emitting quad, and hit the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2021.  

Take an aerial tour of the Netherlands in this fantastic 2020 drone reel by Robbert roos.  The video features footage of the following locations: the North of Limburg, the southernmost Dutch province; the three windmills of Leidschendam, in South Holland; the northern province of Friesland; the lake Wijde Aa, in South Holland; the Wadden (Frisian) Islands; the island of Tiengemeten, the church of Hoogmade, and the town of Voorburg, all in South Holland; and the beach town of Scheveningen, which is part of the Hague.  

In this drone video by musabms, you'll get an aerial tour of the Turkish Republic of Cyprus, the northern half of the large Mediterranean island.  The video opens with shots of Kyrenia, the ancient walled harbor town which lies in the middle of the island's northern coastline.  You'll also be treated to some excellent aerial views of Famagusta, a port city on the island's eastern coast, including the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque.  Other featured locations include the Karpas Peninsula, which extends off of the island's northeastern coast.
