Arches of Industry: Historic Viaducts, Filmed by Drone

Top AirVuz contributor Kpax earned a Drone Video of the Week Finalist spot for this outstanding drone video of a historic railway in the Alps Mountains.  It's called the Bernina Express, and it runs between the Swiss town of Chur in the canton of Grissons with Tirano, Italy in the Valtellina Valley, part of the region of Lombardy.  Operated by Rhaetian Railway, the largest private Swiss rail carrier, the railway is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  The video was filmed with a DJI Air 3 drone.  

Explore the Scottish Highlands from above in this excellent drone video by new AirVuz contributor OVproduction.  At the :15 mark, you'll see the Old Man of Storr, a famous rock formation on the Isle of Skye, followed by the nearby Quiraing formation.  At :33, you'll head to Glen Coe, a well-known valley on the mainland, and at 1:20 you'll see the Glenfinnan Viaduct of Harry Potter fame.  Other highlights include the Neist Point Lighthouse, which marks the westernmost point of the Isle of Skye (2:18).  

AirVuz contributor Jabomedia got some perfect timing to film a train crossing England's famous Ribblehead Viaduct.  The The 1.3k ft. (400 m) train bridge opened in 1875 to carry trains across a valley in North Yorkshire, England.  The bridge was one of the key pieces of infrastructure to allow frequent and smooth north-south train passage between the UK regions of England and Scotland.  Like Scotland's Glenfinnan Viaduct (which was built a few decades later), the Ribblehead Viaduct has been seen in numerous movies and TV shows.    

Ribblehead Viaduct is one of the most recognized landmarks in England's Yorkshire Dales National Park.  The bridge carries the Settle–Carlisle line, a historic railway which runs through northern England.  Spanning 400 meters (around 1.3k ft.), the bridge was completed in 1875 following a construction period which took half a decade and cost over 100 workmens' lives.  In this drone video by Mike Robinson, you'll get a bird's eye view of the bridge, which was critical to connecting the rail systems of England and Scotland.

Check out this amazing drone video of a famous train viaduct in southern Turkey.  The Varda Viaduct (sometimes known as the Giaour Dere Viaduct) is located in the Adana province, one of the provinces of southern Turkey.  It was designed by German engineers as part of the Bagdad Railway project which helped to solidify Turkey's ties with Germany prior to World War I.  Famously, the viaduct was the filming location for an epic chase scene which opened the 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall, the 25th installment in the series.   

The Tulip Viaduct is a train bridge which spans about 700 meters (2.3k ft) in the Midwestern state of Indiana.  Constructed in 1906 by the Indianapolis Southern Railway, the bridge was (for a time) the longest train trestle in the United States.  Contributor and pilot dru.43pro used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to make an aerial video of this landmark.  The magnificent video shows the lush Indiana landscape surrounding the bridge and concludes with a bird's eye view of a train speeding along its steel rails.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of the Scottish Highlands by AirVuz contributor toba_photog.  The video opens with a great shot of the famous Quiraing landslip on the Isle of Skye.  At the :40 mark, you'll see the Glenfinnan Viaduct aka Harry Potter Bridge, followed by some amazing shots of Glen Coe, one of the unique type of valleys which are found in the Highlands.  Other featured locations include the Old Man of Storr rock formation, Fairy Glen, and Neist Point Lighthouse on the Isle of Skye as well as Loch Ness.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Zdronu earned himself a fourth Drone Video of the Week nomination with this stunning video from the Scottish Highlands.   Shot with a DJI Mavic 2 drone, expertly edited, and set to an inspiring voice-over, much of the video was shot over the Isle of Skye, the largest of the Inner Hebrides islands.   Other featured locations include the Glenfinnan Viaduct near Loch Shiel, which featured prominently in the Harry Potter movie series, as well as the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.  

Play North used a drone to create this stunning aerial view of Glenfinnan Viaduct, an important train bridge in Scotland.  It's located on the West Highland Line, which runs through the Shire of Inverness in west central Scotland.  Completed in 1899, its iconic appearance has made it a shooting location for multiple movie productions.  The most well known of these is the Harry Potter series; the viaduct has appeared in all four films in the series thus far and is often referred to as Harry Potter Bridge.
