2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 8

Top AirVuz contributor Active Perspective returns after a two year hiatus with this moving video from South Africa.  Created with both drone and ground camera footage, much of the piece is devoted to the country's natural wildlife.  You'll see penguins and seals lined up along the coastal areas around Cape Town, and elephants, giraffes. zebras, rhinos, and even lions in the interior.  The film notes that the rhino pair (which you'll see at the 1:40 mark), were killed by poachers, part of an ongoing tragedy.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month Winner Postandfly used the DJI Mavic Pro 3 and Mavic 3 Classic drones to create this stunning dronelapse compilation from Mexico City, the largest metropolitan area in North America.  The video opens with sequences looking towards the great volcanoes south of the city, and at the :30 mark you'll fly past the World Trade Center in the Colonia Nápoles neighborhood.  Other highlights include the skyscrapers of Cuauhtémoc (first seen at :54), the Angel of Independence (1:12), and more.

  used a DJI Mavic 3 Cine to create this stunning drone video of one of France's natural treasures: the volcanoes of Auvergne.  Formally known as the Chaîne des Puys, this is a chain of cinder cones, lava domes, and other similar geological features which runs through a section of the Massif Central, a highlands area in the south-central part of the country.  While the volcanoes are technically not extinct, the last known eruption occurred about 6,000 years ago.  

Check out this fantastic international drone travel reel by former Drone Video of the Week Winner FLY DOG.  The video was created over the course of a year with footage from a variety of drones, including the DJI Mavic 2 and 3, Inspire 2, Mavic Mini 2 and 3, and a couple of different FPV drones.  The video features clips from a variety of commercial jobs undertaken across Europe, Africa and Asia, ranging from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco to the Caucasus Mountains (which divide Europe from Asia) to the sand dunes of Tunisia.  

Iceland is an infant in geological terms, having arisen by the process of volcanic eruptions on the floor of the North Atlantic Ocean a mere 60 million years ago.  Its newness is reflected in the unique landscapes of the island, which provide a visual experience unlike any other in the world.   In this amazing drone video by AirVuz contributor Eneour, which was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in February, 2023, you'll get a sense of the "textures" of this mysterious land.
