Like the best dream sequence, or coolest streaming fantasy, Freestyle Cinematic footage takes the stylish sweeping motions of power-packed racing quad against powerful backdrops to render a feeling that's utterly amazing. The vantage point of these drones match that of a whimsically spirited (not to mention robust) bird, and the resulting footage feels seamless, acrobatic, yet entirely still grounded in the scenery. The best way to understand this style of video is watch them, and the nominees in this category are the best place to start. Congratulations to JohnnyFPV on the big win!

Top first-person view (FPV) pilot and drone racer JohnnyFPV, who travels the world making FPV freestyle videos, created this magnificent video from Mada'in Saleh, an archaeological site in northwestern Saudi Arabia. With full permission from the requisite authorities, he gives us a unique view of one of the most iconic desert landscapes from the vantage of a quad-mounted GoPro. This was the winning video in the 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards in the Cinematic FPV category and was FPV Video of the Year.

Opening with tight, crisp shots of the quad caked in fresh snow, AirVuz contributor mrram_fpv knows how to set up a cinematic first person view (FPV) piece. Set against a backdrop of snow-capped evergreens you'll feel like you're watching a clip out of a Superman movie thanks to his smooth flying and slick editing skills. The backward-facing shots rushing through an alpine forest are just the proverbial icing on the cake. This is a FPV Freestyle Cinematic nominee in the 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards.

Top AirVuz contributor and first-person view (FPV) pilot Wild Willy FPV does it again in this dynamic FPV video of the Winton Winter Drift Matsuri. Chasing drift cars with an FPV mini-quad looks (almost) easy thanks to the tight shots he's able to grab. That, combined with the ground camera close-ups shot on his Sony A7III makes this a textbook example of how to create a cinematic piece with your quad. This video is a nominee in the second annual Drone Video Awards in the FPV Freestyle Cinematic category.

Have you ever seen a drone video from the inside of a waterfall? Pretty sure you haven't... At least, not until now! Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot airblastr had this crazy idea to fly through the icy curtain of a waterfall. Instead of just waiting for the urge to pass he actually did it, and the quad survived to tell the tale. We are told that no quads were harmed in the filming of this video, which was a Finalist at the second annual Drone Video Awards' in the FPV Freestyle Cinematic nominated video.
