Annual Reels: Best of 2021

Kino.team is one of the most well-known commercial drone piloting companies in Russia, and is regularly hired to film scenes for movies, TV shows, and commercials.  In this 2021 drone reel, you will be able to see some of the best shots from the year.  Opening with some beautiful landscape shots of the forests of Northwestern Russia, the video transitions to some spectacular first person view (FPV) drone shots.  Starting at about the :25 mark, you'll see some breathtaking shots from St. Petersburg, including an FPV dive of Lakhta Center.

Top AirVuz contributor Luciano Gonzalez Perlender is the principal of Aerovisuales, one of the top commercial drone piloting companies in Argentina.  In this fantastic piece, they've put together some of the highlights of their aerial videography work throughout the giant South American country.  The reel features a mix of urban, landscape, action, and "people" shots, ranging from the skyscrapers of Buenos Aires, a large football stadium, a rally race, a stunt-performing wakeboarder, and much more.  

Top AirVuz contributor David Dinu returns after a three year hiatus to bring us this stunning travel video from Pakistan.  Created with a combination of drone and ground camera footage, the video was shot over the course of a three week trip through the country, which the creator calls (and not without good reason) "one of the most beautiful countries I've ever seen".  Treat yourself to some absolutely spectacular views of mountainous northern Pakistan, and also get a glimpse into the lives of its 200 million+ people.  

Check out this fantastic aerial compilation of the Alps Mountains by top AirVūz contributor Muhamad AbuShakra. Filmed in the winter of 2020-21, when travel was greatly restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Muhamad hiked the unexplored winter scenes in the Alps mountains in Germany and Austria.  The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 km across eight Alpine countries.  This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in March 2021.   

Explore the world with this fantastic international travel reel by top AirVuz content creator Merr Watson.  Watson, who has nearly 100k followers on Instagram as of mid-2021, will take you over some of the world's most beautiful spots, often featuring shots of herself.  Some of the featured locations include the storied beaches of Coron in the Philippines; the waterfalls, volcanoes, and rice terraces of Indonesia; the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean; the Lancelin Sand Dunes of Western Australia; Africa's Victoria Falls; and more.  This video was a DVOY finalist in 2021. 

Check out this fantastic 2021 drone reel from the Canadian province of Manitoba, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot TannerNG.  Opening with some shots of the province's windswept prairies, the video then takes you to the wreck of the SS Ithaka, which ran aground on the coast of Hudson Bay in 1960.  At the :27 mark, you'll see IG Field, a football stadium in the provincial capital of Winnipeg.  Other shots will take you over downtown Winnipeg, some of the province's many farms, oilfields, and more.  

With multiple Drone Video of the Week wins to his name, msember is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community.  In this reel, he brings us some of the aerial highlights from his travels during the COVID-scarred year of 2021.  Beautifully edited, the video alternates between scenes in two legendary subtropical locations: the Central American country of Costa Rica, and the island paradise known as the Bahamas.  Watch it to soar over rushing waterfalls, white-sand beaches, lush green rainforests, and crystal-blue sailing waters.  

Top AirVuz contributor Elb Cut Media brings us this fantastic 2021 drone reel.  The video features footage from their native Hamburg, Germany as well as from the Bavrian Alps and the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.  Over the course of the 2.5 minute reel, you'll be treated to bird's eye views of Swedish lakes, and Norwegian Fjords, and mountains.  You'll also see some nice shots of the skyline and harbor of Hamburg, Germany's second-largest city and home to one of Europe's largest seaports.    

Top contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Flylifeco was one of the pioneers of cinematic FPV, in which the goal of the pilot is to create highly watchable, smooth video content.  That's reason enough to check out this epic reel, which includes some of his best footage from 2021.  As has become popular with the emerging cinematic FPV genre, the video features some great "setup" shots from a gimbal-stabilized platform to lay out the scenes of the FPV flights.  This reel was picked for the Pilots to Watch list in late 2021.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot smakozawr brings us this fantastic 2021 drone highlight reel, most of which was shot in Ukraine.  The reel opens with alternating shots of some of the sights of the Ukrainian capital of Kiev with some outstanding automotive shots.  Further on, you'll be treated to some great views of some tractors working the great Ukrainian grain fields, the Dneiper River crossings in Kiev, the port of Odessa, and more.  This video was a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in December, 2021.   

Check out this magnificent 2021 drone reel from Ireland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot ireland_from_air.  The video features footage from over 50 locations along the coast of the Emerald Isle.  Some of the spots you'll see in the video include the capital city of Dublin; County Louth, just north of Dublin; County Wicklow, just south of Dublin; County Wexford, the next county south of Wicklow; and Cork, Ireland's second-largest city, which lies near the southern tip of the island.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot VertMedia has ascended to the heights of commercial FPV filming, with a particularly enviable track record filming commercials for some of the world's leading auto companies.  In this incredible showreel, he brings us some of the highlights from his work over the course of 2021, which included engagements Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, and Bentley.  Featuring some of the best car-chasing FPV footage we've seen, this was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list at the end of 2021.  

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot flymydr8ne bids us Merry Christmas with this fantastic year-end drone reel from Portugal.  The video begins with some excellent shots of Porto, Portugal's great northern city, including its iconic Dom Luis Bridge.  At about the :26 mark, you'll see the magnificent Mafra National Palace just west of Lisbon, followed by a shot of the nearby Pena Palace.  Other highlights include the Castle of Silves in the southern region of Algarve (1:05), Lisbon's Commerce Square (1:27), and more.  

To appreciate how far the world's most talented first person view (FPV) drone pilots have taken their content creation skills, you have to check out this magnificent reel by AirVuz contributor teammistral.  Shot largely in the South of France, the video offers something for everyone.  You'll zip past private jets and supercars, rip through the fabled Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, and fly through a casino.  And that's in the first minute!  Other highlights include race car and yacht chasing, cruising the French Riviera, and more.

Check out this fantastic "cinewhoop" style first person view (FPV) drone reel by top contributor OneShot_Hero.  The reel does a fantastic job of showing off the diverse capabilities of these specialized mini-drones, whose light weight and ducted propellers make them suitable for "missions" which are not suitable for traditional mini-quads.  Brilliantly edited, the video will take you through factories, on a football field, through loading trucks, and more.  This video was an easy pick for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in April, 2021.  

Top AIrVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot VerJan FPV has developed a specialty of using his FPV quads to film epic action sports scenes.  In this incredible reel, he brings us some of the highlights of his work over the course of 2021.  Filmed largely in the spectacular landscapes of western Utah, the video expertly captures the thrilled of BASE jumping, paragliding, mountain biking, and other alpine-related activities.  It was an easy pick for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in early January of 2022.  

AirVuz contributor and content creator seb-depp brings us this excellent drone reel covering some of his highlights from 2021.  Like many aerial videographers, in recent times he has added first person view (FPV) drones to his repertoire, and the reel features a nice mix of footage from different types of drones.  The compilation includes footage from across Europe, including the mountains and plains of northern Germany, numerous landmarks in England and Scotland, the Brittany and Normandy regions of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot aladdin.fpv had a very productive 2021, as evidenced by this extremely impressive FPV reel.  Shot over and around the Persian Gulf city of Dubai, the video features an awesome mix of different types of shots.  It includes "cinewhoop" style shots flying through a showroom full of super-cars, highly cinematic shots over some of Dubai's legendary resorts, epic car chase scenes through the surrounding Empty Quarter desert, and much more.  This video was a DVOY finalist in 2021. 

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor skyreel_se brings us this excellent drone view from Sweden's Skåne County.  Largely coastal, Skåne is the southernmost of Sweden's 21 counties.  The county's western shore faces Denmark across the narrow Øresund (the strait which connects the North and Baltic Seas), while its southern and eastern shores are on the Baltic Sea proper.  Created with a mix of drone footage (including first person view (FPV) drone footage), the video includes views of the city of Malmö as well as Skåne's interior.  

AirVuz contributor Yeah brings us this excellent year-end 2021 drone reel from locations across the Czech Republic.  Some of the highlights include Novy Hrad castle in the Ústecký Region at the :58 mark; Jezeří Castle, in the Jihočeský Kraj region (1:39); Mariánská Týnice, a pilgrimage destination in western Bohemia 1:46); Hasištejn Castle, in the Ústí nad Labem Region of northwestern Bohemia (2:50); the town of Kuks in the Hradec Králové Region of eastern Bohemia (3:10); Cheb, a town in the western Karlovy Very Region, and more.  

AirVuz contributor Moises_Arias is one of the top drone pilots in the Dominican Republic.  In this fantastic drone reel, you'll see some of the highlights of his work.   Created using a combination of gimbal-stabilized and first person view (FPV) footage, the video features excellent aerial views from across this Caribbean island nation.  You'll see the skyscrapers, port facilities, and Colonial architecture of the capital city of Santo Domingo, some of the DR's storied beaches, rainforest-covered interior mountains, and more. 

Take inthese absolutely stunning aerial views of Alaska, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist alaska42.  Returning to AirVuz after a two year hiatus, this talented content creator has put together some of his best drone footage from 2021.  The video opens with a brilliant Fall Colors shot, followed by a flyover of some sled dogs and then a mountain resort.  At the :15 mark, there's an epic view of a vast glacier.  Other shots feature northern lights, massive snow-covered forests and mountains, and more.   

Check out this fantastic 2021 first person view (FPV) drone reel, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot chrissbergan.  The video includes extensive footage from his native Norway, including some epic shots from the mountains and fjords of Western Norway as well as from the Lofoten Islands.  You'll also be treated to some epic FPV sequences from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia as well as the North Atlantic island of Iceland.  The reel is highly cinematic and extremely well edited, making it well worth a watch.  

Contributor and drone pilot vitaliy.karpovich is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community, so you would expect his 2021 showreel to be amazing.  Trust us, it doesn't disappoint.  Picked as a DVOW Finalist, the video features footage from Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.  Some of the highlights include shots from the Russian cities of St. Petersburg and Ufa, the volcanoes of the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East; the hot air balloons and "fairy tale" castles of Cappadocia, Turkey; the mosques of Istanbul; and more.   

Talented content creator and first person view (FPV) pilot imtunz won the FPV Video of the Month in August, 2021 with his first upload to AirVuz, a mid-year FPV highlight reel.  In this amazing video, he updates his highlight reel with footage captured over the balance of 2021.  Some of the highlights include shots flying over the Great Lakes in Wisconsin; a dive down the iconic Foshay Tower in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota; an assortment of action shots, and more.  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2022. 

Check out this highly cinematic first person view (FPV) drone reel by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot matt fpv.   The video features a mix of extremely smooth shots over a variety of natural and man-made terrains in Germany and Italy.  You'll soar over peaks of the Bavarian Alps and the crystal-blue waters of the island of Sardinia, and skim over the fantastic rocky peaks of the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  There are also some incredible "gap" shots as well as some very creative transitions.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor jfabraga brings us this very impressive 2021 drone reel.  Like many drone pilots who initially flew gimbal-stabilized DJI drones, she has expanded her flying skills to be able to fly first person view (FPV) drones.  And how!  The reel features incredible shots from across her native Portugal.  You'll be treated to some outstanding views ranging from the waterfalls of Flores (one of the Azores) to the famous rock formations on the mainland Poruguese coast to some great car-chasing footage.

Check out this fantastic 2021 first person view (FPV) drone reel from western Poland.  The video was filmed in and around the city of Szczecin in the voivodeship (province) of West Pomeranian, which covers the northwestern part of the country.  The video features some great shots from the city itself, which is one of Poland's most important seaports.  You'll also see some great shots from the lakes and forests which surround the city, indoor shots, incredible chase sequences involving powered paragliders and speedboats, and more.  

Talented content creator and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Micro FPV won a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in early February, 2022 with this outstanding 2021 FPV reel from Greece.  The video features a nice variety of landscape, cityscape, and action-oriented shots from across this Southern European country.  You'll chase a supercar and speedboats skimming along the water, dive the spires of a steeple, chase drift cars, cruise along the waters of the Aegean Sea, fly over an outdoor concert, and more.

Former DVOW Finalist sinaysky brings us this fantastic 2021 drone reel from Russia.  The video opens with shots of the snow-covered forests of Karelia in Northwestern Russia, including the Ruskeala Express historic train line.  Then you'll head to St. Petersburg for some great shots of Russia's #2 city during winter, including a view of Palace Square at the :35 mark.  Other highlights include some ice-breaking cargo ships (:49), a drift car race (1:06), the Crimean Mountains (1:13), and St. Petersburg's St. Isaacs Cathedral (2:00).  

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone reel from Germany by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot zacfpv.  The video begins with a shot cruising the Rhine River near the port of Cologne, followed by a transition to the famously blue waters of the Eibsee lake in the Bavarian Alps.  Other shots will take you over the Winterburg winter resort area (like Cologne in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the Baltic Sea island of Rügen.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January of 2022.

  brings us this excellent 2021 drone highlight reel.  Shot entirely with first person view (FPV) drones, the video features a mix of landscape and action-oriented/dynamic shots, including some "cinewhoop" style indoor shots.  Some of the highlights include a fly-through of a semi-ruined castle at the :10 mark, an epic motorcycle chase sequence starting at about :23, some great mountain biking chase shots starting at :35, a shot of a highline walker (:57), and more.  

Check out this fantastic 2021 first person view (FPV) drone reel, compliments of anthonystengel.  The video opens with a spectacular shot cruising along a rock ridge somewhere in the Southwestern USA.  At around the :13 mark, you'll take an impossible looking dive down along a sheer cliff, and at the :20 you'll follow a Mini Cooper convertible cruising along a desert road.  Later on, you'll skim over a mountain lake, chase an off-roader, a skier, and a BMX stunt rider.  Other shots will take you through fireworks and into a canyon. 

Experience the beauty of Spain's Canary Islands in this fantastic FPV reel by AirVuz contributor and pilot YoseGonFPV.  Shot primarily on Tenerife, the largest member of the archipelago, the video gives a unique perspective of what this volcanic wonder has to offer.  You'll skim along the island's beaches, dive its spectacular cliffs, fly through its magnificent coastal rock formations and explore its mountainous interior.  There's even some great car chasing footage as you follow a white supercar racing along Tenerife's curving roads.  

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone reel from the mountains of Siberian Russia, compliments of AirVuz contributor kalash.fpv.  The Altai Mountains are home to some of the most remote territory on earth.  The range, which also covers portions of neighboring China, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia, has few passes, making it highly inaccessible.  With peaks ranging up to about 14.8k ft. above sea level (around 4.5k m), the Altai's make for some epic FPV mountain surfing.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list.   

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Luca T. put some of his best 2021 FPV footage to brings us this fantastic highlight reel.  The video features some outstanding FPV footage from a variety of sites around Italy, with a great mix of landscapes, cultural sites like churches and castles, cities, amusement parks, some indoor "cinewhoop" style footage, and (near the end of the video) some chase clips.  This video was picked by the AirVuz editorial staff for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in late January of 2022.

Top contributor Aerial Media Gladstone returns to AirVuz after a two year hiatus with this fantastic drone showreel from Australia's Gladstone Region in the eastern state of Queensland.  The core of the region is the city of Gladstone, a port town on the estuary of the Calliope River which is located about 300 mi. (around 515 km) north of the city of Brisbane.  The reel features footage from around the region, including some great shots of the Port of Gladstone, one of the 4-5 largest coal exporting ports in the world 

Check out this fantastic 2021 drone reel from Liverpool, England by contributor Stratus Imagery.  At around the :10 mark, there's a great shot of a cruise ship docked at the modern cruise ship terminal along the city's historic waterfront, followed by a view of the Liverpool Cathedral on St. James Mount.  Other highlights include the Albert Dock (:27), Victoria Tower (:30), the Walker Art Gallery (:37), Radio City Tower (:55), Anfield Stadium (1:13), the Royal Liver Building (1:16), as well as some excellent first person view (FPV) shots.  

Check out this action-packed 2021 drone reel from Brazil by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist and Drone Video Award Nominee RG CAM.  The video features an impressive mix of high-quality footage, ranging from cityscapes to wedding videos to shots of lanscapes and factories.  Some of the most impressive shots are action-oriented sequences, in keeping with this filmmaker's reputation as one of top commercial drone companies in Brazil for this (highly demanding) type of  aerial footage.  

This 2021 first person view (FPV) drone reel by AirVuz contributor fidofpv opens with some great coastal cruising shots.  At around the :20 mark, there's an epic shot flying the gap represented by an offshore rock arch, followed by a through-the-window gap shot and a drift car chase sequence.  Then you'll chase a mountain biker, a motorcycle rider, and a very talented skateboarder.  Shot primarily in the Canary Islands and the Portuguese island of Maderia, this video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in February, 2022.      

Prepare to be blown away by this epic first person view (FPV) showreel by top contributor Cinehawks.  The reel opens with a spectacular shot zipping through a forest, followed by a bird-chasing shot over the water.  Starting at about the :17 mark, you'll fly between two tightly-spaced rows of a warehouse, "emerging" to chase a Ferrari.  Other highlights feature motorcycles, bando's, music concerts, skyscraper dives, and more.  This video was chosen as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist and was also an FPV Pilots to Watch pick.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Mauro Sciambi brings us this marvelous drone video from wintertime Italy.  The video opens with some excellent shots of mountain roads, their hairpin curves partially concealed by winter fog.  At the :35 mark, there's a great view of some cows congregated on a plain in front of some mountains, followed by an aerial view of an iconic mountain town.  Well worth a watch, this video was picked as a Finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week contest in March, 2021.
