10 DAYS OF FPV IN CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Cape Town, South Africa is not-infrequently cited as the world's most beautiful city. What better place then for a ten day first person view (FPV) trip to explore its stunning environs, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. In this outstanding piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot FRYFPV, you'll see captivating Cape Town from an entirely new perspective, as you soar in an FPV mini-drone over its bays and surrounding mountains. This video was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in June of 2021.

Just before Covid19, I went on a trip to Cape Town, South Africa. For the first time in my life, I went on the other side of the world on my own. It wasn't always as easy as they say it would, but I ended up meeting a lot of amazing people and made new friendships of a lifetime. I went to Cape Town with one working FPV drone (Team Mistral Ak47, 5"), a dji Mavic and a GoPro Hero 6. I think I had all FPV technical issues you can have every single day, but I also had a blast shooting every of these days. As usual, I travel and got my FPV drone in my backpack, as soon as I see something interesting to fly or an opportunity to fly, I do one battery, no more than one. I know sometimes I cross the flying limit borders, so when I do, I make it quick: no more than one run, one battery, one minute. Despite not flying the same spot twice, I came back home with around 250GB of footage. You can imagine how difficult it took me to process it all and start making a 5 minute video. In fact, it took me 18 months and probably more than 200 hours in front of my computer to bring this video to your eyes. With lockdowns and Covid, I thought motivation would be on a high and I'd get this done quickly, but weirdly it has been the most challenging edit I've ever done in my life because of the weird time we're living in. I'm still not 100% happy with the edit, but I can't hold this forever and I need to move on to the next one (the backlog is huge now!) I can't be more thankful to everyone I met there, you guys made this trip so special and if it wasn't for you and to thank you all, I most likely would have given up on making this video. I am not sponsored by anyone, I don't have a talented video editor that does it all for me. I only have you guys. Thank you all for taking 5 minutes to watch this. I hope you enjoyed it
