'ALIEN' Monument

Top contributor Uncle Damn took an amazing dronie shot from an important monument in his home country of Macedonia. It's called the Ilinden (or, variously, the Makedonium), and was completed in 1974. It's situated in Kruševo, near the center of the country, which has the distinction of being Macedonia's highest town. The monument is related to the anniversaries of two important events in the country's history, one in the early 20th century and another during its Nazi occupation in World War II.

This unique alien shaped monument called Makedonium, looks like It was taken right out of a Sci-Fi Movie. Getting the chance to see this place during the day with NO other tourist in sight, provided me with the greatest ‘OPPORTUNITY’. It was the perfect setup to shoot this epic, once in a lifetime dronie from the beginning of the video. Climbing and being on top of this outstanding structure, got me the chance to see how unique this place really is, truly hypnotizing. Makedonium is a monument in Kruševo dedicated to all the fighters and revolutionaries who participated in the Ilinden uprising of 1903, as well as soldiers-partisans of the Macedonia National Liberation Struggle 1941-1944. The monument grounds cover 12 acres, The building has a rounded shape with protruding oval windows, the upper windows are made of stained glass. Inside the dome is the tomb of Nikola Karev, president of the Kruševo Republic. The interior of the dome has four windows, each facing a different direction including the locations associated with the Ilinden-related events ″Sliva″ Memorial, Bear stone and Pelagonija.
