Touching down with the sun just hovering over the horizon was a first for me & the crew on-board the first Boeing 767 to land in Novolazarevskaya Station, Antarctica. December is of course early summer in the southern hemisphere and we enjoyed the highest temperature of -10. Antarctica is described as the coldest desert on earth with zero humidity, stepping out of the plane your instantly reminded. My job was to document & create a promotional film for Titan Airways making history with the landing of the first Boeing 767 onto a runway hundreds of meters thick of ancient polar Ice. With this job done we were fortunate enough to visit the ex Soviet & now Russian research facility Novolazarevskaya research Station. The route only accessible via snow mobile & converted Toyota Hilux vehicle is hidden away in_between incredible glaciers & ancient granite rock. Our guide took us inside to discover photos of researcher's that have come down over decades to research climate change. The interior and exterior is unchanged from the soviet era & is like stepping back in time. A truly incredible experience topped off with writing our names on a series of rocks laid out in the shape of Antarctica it's self. We hope you enjoy the photos & video we created of this once in a lifetime experience!
