Achill Island , Ireland
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out this fantastic drone video of Ireland's Achill Island, compliments of AirVuz contributor Drone Photography Ireland. Located off the Corraun Peninsula in County Mayo in the western part of the country, it's Ireland's largest "satellite" island. Achill has been inhabited since the fourth or fifth milennium BC, possibly earlier. Covering about 150 square km (a bit under 60 square mi.), the island has a permanent population of a bit under 3k. Since the 1880's, the island is connected to the mainland via bridge.

Achill island is situated west of ireland in County Mayo, this not too big island is connected to the mainland with the short bridge and is easily accessible. Island is famous for surfing, hiking and green way which is cycling track It has been suggested that the name may mean 'look-out, prospect'; the idea sometimes advanced that it may be related to the Latin word aquila, 'an egale', seems groundless.
