Aerial Diaries - Masjid Selat - Melaka - Malaysia

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor ozairrao brings us this excellent aerial view of an important modern mosque in the Southeast Asian country of Malaysia. It's called the Melaka Straits Mosque (Masjid Selat), and it's located on a man-made island in the city of Melacca in the city's namesake province. Opened in 2006, the mosque's design is intended to appear as if it is floating. It's 30 meter (roughly 100 ft.) minaret also functions as a lighthouse. Located roughly halfway between Kuala Lampur and Singapore, Malacca is one of Malaysia's oldest cities.
