Blencathra Via Sharp Edge // Aerial Adventure // Episode 10 // Lake District // Phantom 4 Pro Drone
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
The Lake District is northern England is famous not just for its lakes but for the sharp ridges which run through the area. Blencathra is one of the sharpest of these hills, and it's a legendary hiking spot because of it. The unusual geology of the area led it to become a principal filming location for the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens; Blencathra is visible in an X-Wing fighter scene. Check out this amazing spot in northern England from contributor and drone pilot Joshua Paul Gardner.

Blencathra Via Sharp Edge // Aerial Adventure // Episode 10 // Lake District One of the most exciting and feared ridge walks in Britain. Blencathra is a unique mountain sitting at the far northern edge of the Lake District National Park. A fun story behind this one. I first visited the mountain back in 2016 when I was training for my Mountain Leader Assesment. Back then I would be going out whatever the weather and when I first tackled this ridge I was greeted by a blanket of thick cloud and sidewards rain. Ever since I've been wanting to return to capture this fantastic mountain. I'd been keeping a keen eye on the weather forecast and realised that Monday morning looked like it was going to be the day. I packed my gear, Jumped in the car and headed off on the 5hr journey to the mountain. Leaving at 1oclock in the morning, I drove through the night and reached the bottom of the mountain at 05:30. One of the benefits of this time of year is that sunrise wasn't until 08:00 which gave me a couple of hours to make my up to the summit. Heres what I captured, Hope you enjoy.
