Before breakfast - but without golden light - I found a nice spot at Filey Brigg. Skipsea Castle is pretty much gone except for the artificial hill. Bridlington Bay was less spectacular than I thought but I had to wait for Burton Agnes Old Manor House to open anyway. The old manor house dates from 1170 and had its wall facing added when the new manor house was built around 1600. Howden Minster is a half-ruined church begun around 1265. The east end was partitioned off in 1600 and fell into decay afterwards. St. Peter's Barton was another nice surprise - on the inside there's a comprehensive exhibition on burials from Saxon to modern times. The tower dates from around 1000, the rest of the church developed until around 1500. Thornton Abbey is famous for its gatehouse. As it was closed I could only get a glimpse of the rest ("substantial remains") by drone. Gainsthorpe Medieval Village - forget it. Bolingbroke Castle looks cool from the air but otherwise the walls are only up to 2 m high. Henry IV was born here. Sibsey Trader Windmill from 1877 was closed for restoration. Tattershall College are the scant remains of a former school (maybe). The flight is restricted here but I was allowed to fly by Air Traffic control of the nearby RAF airport!
