Botinas Islands
Two small islands are iconic in the Ilha Grande bay, Rio de Janeiro: Ilhas Botinas.
They are part of most of the tourist itineraries of the region's schooners. Another 364 islands, one for each day of the year, make the region of Angra dos Reis and Paraty an excellent tourist destination for those who enjoy the sea.
The Botinas Islands were baptized with this name because their format resembles two little boots. Legend has it that they were created when a pirate ship, fleeing from the English fleet, ran over an island, cutting it in half and creating the two islets. This has already happened a few times, without success, when speedboats returning from the end of year festivities go up to the islands in the region.
Botinas are located in a central point of Ilha Grande bay and can be seen from several points in the region.
