Castello Xirumi

The Castle of Xirumi Serravalle is a 16th-century building owned by the Barons Grimaldi Serravalle, located on the borders of the Catania plain. The estate is part of the municipality of Lentini, in the province of Siracusa, and with its agricultural business, it constitutes one of the largest citrus groves in eastern Sicily (about 200 hectares including orange and lemon orchards). Additionally, the property represents an area of significant archaeological interest, hosting a necropolis dating back to the Neolithic age.

Access to the castle is through a long avenue shaded by palm trees and bordered by lush Mediterranean flora, leading to an imposing iron gate. The layout follows that of the typical fortified Sicilian farmhouse: a large central courtyard around which various perfectly restored structures open up, including an oil mill, a wine press, and a grain warehouse that serve as perfect spaces for meetings and conferences.

The noble floor on the western side, the temporary residence of the Grimaldi family, overlooks the front courtyard through large windows; the western facade was designed and renovated by the architect Carlo Sada at the beginning of the 20th century.

The antique furniture is adorned with magnificent trompe-l'oeil, while the Sicilian terracotta flooring showcases designs and decorations that vary from room to room, where large stone fireplaces warm the spaces.

Today, the Xirumi Castle is used as a prestigious venue for receptions and events: heated spaces, natural lighting with candles and Roman pans to enhance the atmosphere, sound systems, and many other services are offered to make the wedding day perfect. The Castle has indeed become one of the most appreciated and sought-after venues in the region for hosting wedding ceremonies and receptions, also boasting the presence of a charming consecrated chapel.
