Former DVOW Winner iskenderfilm brings us this fantastic video from the ancient city of Mardin, Turkey. The capital of its namesake province in the region of Southeast Anatolia, the city is strategically between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, near the Syrian border. The city was under control of many different empires over the centuries, including the Assyrian, Achaemenid (Persian), Roman, Mongol, and Ottoman Empires. Shot with a drone and ground camera, the video features some excellent aerial shots of the Great Mosque of Mardin.

The capital of Mardin Province, it is known for the Artuqid architecture of its old city, and for its strategic location on a rocky hill near the Tigris River that rises steeply over the flat plains.
