Closer to Spring (Blackbird 2207 2725kv, testing Betaflight 4.0 Integrated Yaw)

Killing a couple birds with one stone on this setup (not Damien though! He's cool!) Doing some testing of integrated yaw vs standard yaw settings in betaflight and giving Damien's new motors a workout. It was ~38F out for these packs, but I needed to try this stuff out so I stuck it out! I'm just hoping spring actually shows up soon! The trees are and flowers are blooming, and the freezing weather doesn't seem to be phasing them (19F the night before!), so I have hope that it's on it's way! First off the motors are super interesting. These motors were designed specifically for the T-Motor 5143 props that I've been running recently, so it was fascinating to try a setup that's been fine tuned as a motor/prop combo. The results were spot on with my predictions from bench tests, extremely responsive, plenty of top end, and tons of low throttle control thanks to the higher Kv and the shape of the throttle curve. Insanely snappy motors. The stator size and light-weight props work together nicely with the scaled back magnets to produce a smooth flight without losing to much torque. Efficiency unloaded is also significantly improved over static tests, which is also expected.Getting really solid flight times out of this setup, despite the high draw on the bench. It really only pulls a lot near the top of the throttle and only in certain AoA. Really nice work from T-Motor and Damien (Blackbird FPV) on this one. As far as the integrated yaw goes, I honestly don't feel a huge difference between standard yaw and the integrated option. Maybe blackbox logs will show something, but both feel good to me when tuned properly. I'm not needing the insanely fast yaw moves that some of the other guys are looking for, and my rigs have a good deal of natural damping thanks to the higher moment of inertia, again compared to the light weight rigs a lot of the other test pilots are running, so I think it solves a problem that isn't necessarily pertinent to my application. I gave it some good yaw workout though! I couldn't feel my fingers when I was done though! I'm still getting some low throttle jitters, kind of like some periodic "skips" if it were a combustion engine. I'm thinking they're coming from interpolated feed forward interacting with missed packets from the radio, but I need to change my debug to get the right logs to check that. Gyro traces look clean anyhow, so even though I would think it could be gyro noise, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Will continue to debug. The tune on this quad was definitely a bit different than the others I was setting up, needed more D gain to avoid some odd low throttle P oscillations, so it could be some weird resonances in the frame playing a role. I custom cut this frame to try some new material I'm playing with, mixed G10 and carbon fiber twill layers, and it has a different flexibility profile. So far it's holding up well though, seems more resistant to delamination possibly. Interesting to play with anyway, I may need to cut some full CF arms and swap to see if it changes handling. Probably too many variables on the same quad, but there's only so much time in a day!
