Corno alle Scale - thaw 2019
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out this beautiful drone video from the Italian Apennine Mountains, compliments of contributor Marco Miele. It's the area around Corno all Scale, a mountain in the Emilia-Romagna region which sits roughly halfway between the ER capital city of Bologna and Florence in neighboring Tuscany. The mountain has a peak altitude of just under 2k meters (around 6.5k ft.). The Apennine chain runs on a northwest-to-southeast axis and forms the boundary between the two regions.

The Corno alle Scale (1,945 m asl) is a mountain in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (Bolognese Apennines and Pistoia mountains), located in the territory of the municipality of Lizzano in Belvedere, with the northern slope and the summit included entirely in the city area Bologna Metro, of which it is the highest altitude and part of the southern slope included in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio in the province of Pistoia. The name derives from the singular shape of the northern wall, consisting of a series of rocky tiers. Classified as a site of community interest and special protection area (IT405002), in turn part of the Corno alle Scale Regional Park, established in 1988, it is dedicated to poetic compositions by Vico Faggi, poet and playwright from Modena, Genoese by adoption and is home to an important ski resort in the northern Apennines.
