Corno alle Scale

Five thousand hectares of park for the highest peak of the Bolognese Apennines, a massif that touches two thousand meters marked up to the summit by layers of sandstone (hence the name "Scale", in fact) clearly evident as the profile of a book placed above the beech forest. Lonely valleys, small villages emerging from the woods, sanctuaries and waterfalls are fan-shaped at the foot of the mountain. Bordering the park of the High Apennines of Modena, it offers splendid mountain panoramas. The deciduous forests, especially beech, affect a large part of the surface and surround the solitary course of crystalline streams. Glacial circuses and altitude grasslands are the habitats of botanical preciousness, the last outpost of the Alps, and also of a rich and interesting fauna.
