The Proscena Mountains stretch north of the right bank of the Tara. They are mostly built of Paleozoic shales (phyllites, argophilites and conglomerates). At higher altitudes there are Verfren sediments and in some places limestones and dolomites of the Middle Triassic. The sides of the Prošćen Mountains towards the Tara River are very steep, almost vertical, and on the mountain itself there are peaks (Ljeljeni vrh), sinkholes and valleys where there are katuns of Prošćen cattle breeders. Crvena Lokva (1,648 m), which is located on this mountain, is the highest permanently inhabited settlement in the municipality of Mojkovac.
