The name Batu Rakit is taken in conjunction with the existence of a row of rocks whose upper surface appears to be raised which is located about 300 meters in the middle of the sea from the beach which looks as if it is a raft. At the time of the Japanese invasion of Malaya, the Japanese army had bombed the stone because it was thought to be a British military warship.
