Albania's second-largest city, Durrës was near the epicenter of a devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake which struck the northwestern part of this Balkan country on November 26, 2019. The quake caused over 50 fatalities and at least 2,000 injuries, most of which occurred in and around Durrës. The city also saw hundreds of buildings damaged by the quake, which caused an estimated US $2 billion in property losses.
