Montenegro's Budva Riviera is a stretch of coastline of the Adriatic Sea which has emerged as a serious rival to the storied Dalmatian Coast in neighboring Croatia.  The Budva Riviera stretches for miles/on either side of the town of Budva, which you'll see in this excellent drone video by Nikola Zindovic.  One of the oldest continuously settled towns of the eastern Adriatic, Budva is particularly well known for its Venetian achitecture, a legacy of the centuries during which it served as an important outpost of the Venetian Empire.

Old town historical sources, Stari Grad is one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic. History of the Old Town in Budva: We have already mentioned that Budva is the oldest city on the Adriatic coast. It is mentioned for the first time in the 5th century under the name Buthoa. It is believed to have been founded by the Phoenician prince Cadmus, when he left Thebes with his wife. A fortified town existed in the area of ​​the Old Town as far back as antiquity. The Old Town is built on a small peninsula, surrounded by ramparts. It was heavily damaged in the 1979 earthquake, but was completely restored. It managed to preserve its distinctive appearance, Venetian style, narrow streets, stone houses, historical landmarks and cultural monuments.
