Drone Video of the Week July - Week 2, Mauro Pagliai!

Our July Week 2 winner was one of the most creative videos we’ve seen in our contest to date! Congratulations to our Drone Video of the Week, Not Only NOW, it’s EPIC by Mauro Pagliai!   Mauro says he loves watching travel blogger videos. The killer transitions and beautiful, photographic shots inspire him, but he can’t travel much. In this video, he said he tried to capture that same style, but instead of traveling around the globe, you’re moving through time, using the magic of video and editing. Rocca Calascio, the focal point of the piece, is a fortress in Italy that was built starting in the tenth century. He used a Phantom 4 Pro and the Point of Interest feature to shoot the fortress at different times of the day. He then combined the footage in post production to simulate the feeling of time travel. His friends helped him out with the characters - putting on costumes, makeup, and props like the old cameras featured, in order to bring the time traveling narrative to life. The hardest part of the project was just convincing his friends to help him out with the Red Lady scene - only his pup, Logan, was excited to go shoot at 4am. Mauro used Phantom 4 Pro, a Pana GH5 with a 25 mm lens and an iPhone X.
